About

David Grubb is a Cardiff-based violinist, string arranger and composer working across records, film, television and games. Classically trained and rooted in folk, he moves freely between the two worlds, a stylistic chameleon as comfortable with a fiddle tune as with a full string arrangement. His screen credits include Michael Sarnoski’s The Death of Robin Hood, Apple TV’s Criminal Record and Square Enix’s Life is Strange. On record he has arranged and recorded strings for Novo Amor, Jim Ghedi, Asha Banks, Lowswimmer, S. Carey, Message to Bears and Hailaker, and for a reimagining of American Football’s debut album. Music featuring his playing has been streamed more than a billion times. As a composer, his library music has been used by Apple in its advertising, and his playing can be heard on the Slate + Ash sample libraries Landforms and Primaries, used by film and media composers around the world. He is also a seasoned live performer. He has toured extensively across North America, Europe and Asia, playing venues including London’s Barbican and New York’s Bowery Ballroom. His work has been broadcast on radio and screen worldwide, from BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music to RTÉ Radio 1. A graduate and Associate of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, he records from his own studio in Cardiff.
